Paul León has been a minor league infielder and has played for the Mexican national team.
León debuted in 2010, hitting .270/.270/.405 as a backup middle infielder for the Petroleros de Minatitlán. In 2011, he became their starting shortstop, batting .243/.319/.324 and fielding .956. He fielded .958 for the 2012 Petroleros while producing at a .266/.311/.383 clip. In the Mexican Pacific League that winter, he backed up Heber Gómez at SS for the Venados de Mazatlán, hitting .238/.250/.254. In the summer of 2013, he hit .304/.352/.426 for the Petroleros and then was only 2 for 21 with a walk that winter for the Venados.
Moving to the Piratas de Campeche for 2014, he hit .303/.344/.430 and fielded .964 at SS. For Mazatlán in the winter, he slumped to .231/.255/.269. He hit .237/.288/.336 in an off-year for the 2015 Piratas and .182/.220/.273 for the 2015-2016 Venados. They would win the LMP title, though, and go to the 2016 Caribbean Series. He did a big job in the finals, hitting .344 with two triples and was named Finals MVP. He was 0 for 11 in the 2016 Caribbean Series, though he did score a run. He fielded .972 at short for Campeche in '16 and batted .259/.332/.410 with 23 doubles. He split the winter between the Venados (.256/.315/.317 in 27 G) and Yaquis de Obregón (.191/.260/.245 in 32 G). He hit .281/.344/.442 for Campeche in the summer of 2017. In the winter, he played briefly for the Yaquis (.222/.300/.222 in 6 G), who then traded him to the Mayos de Navojoa with Marco Carrillo for Niko Vasquez. He did better with the Mayos, at .300/.318/.435 with 6 homers and 26 RBI in 47 games.
He played for Mexico in the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games, starting at 3B with Amadeo Zazueta at SS. He hit .211/.200/.211 with no runs and one RBI in seven games, handling 2 putouts and 11 assists with no errors. He tied Raúl González for the best fielding at 3B in the Games.
