Here are the longest hitting streaks (consecutive games with at least 1 hit) in 2008:

I thought maybe that if we limited it to just home games, there might be a longer streak, perhaps by a Red Sox player, but no:

So, laugh, a Red Sox player had the longest hit streak on the road. Go figure on that one. Also, Ichiro makes both lists--too bad he didn't have the streaks at the same time or he might have ripped off a 40-gamer.

Every time Ichiro hits 15 or so I start thinking, "look out Joe". But it never gets far enough to seriously approach it.
Still, breaking Sisler's record is more important and impressive anyway. The consecutive game thing is kind of just a statistic for statistic's sake.
Which as a baseball fan, of course, I love.
