With the start he got off to this season, I never thought I'd see Kyle Blanks' name at the top of any list of positive stats.

This reminds me of A-Rods huge final game of the season in 2009 when he started the day with 28 HR and 93 RBIs, almost sure to end his streak of 11 straight seasons with 30+ HRs and 100+ RBIs. He finished with exactly what he needed, 2 HRs and 7 RBIs, to extend the streak which he added onto last year for 13 straight. However, it looks like he it will finally end this year.

Wow, what's up with Thames and Kearns this year? Neither has been this terrible traditionally. At least Brian Schneider's a catcher, and Adam Rosales a middle INF - positions better-associated with banjo hitting.
Looking up Rosales just now - Cincy sent him and Willy Taveras to Oakland for Aaron Miles on 2/1/2010. That sparked a wild timeline thereafter:
2/9 - Oakland releases Taveras.
2/15 - Taveras signs with Washington.
4/10 - Taveras goes 2-4 against the Mets, with a triple and all 4 RBI in a 4-3 win.
4/14 - Cincinnati releases Miles.
4/27 - Miles signs with St. Louis.
5/21 - Washington releases Taveras. The XBH and RBI against New York were the only ones he had in 37 plate appearances.
6/3 - Philadelphia, perhaps looking for a Met killer, signs Taveras.
6/29 - After .208/.255/.271 line in 104 PA in AAA, Taveras is released by the Phillies.
7/4 - Atlanta, also perhaps looking for a Met killer, signs Taveras.
8/2 - Realizing they still have Chipper Jones, Atlanta releases Taveras.
8/15 - Texas signs Taveras, who's clearly in it for the frequent flier miles.
1/24/2011 - Colorado signs Taveras, and stash him back in AAA, where he remains.
So, in the space of one calendar year, Taveras was the property of SEVEN major league franchises. Is there any way to check if that's a record?
(PS - Rosales' 1.6 WAR in 2010 makes Oakland the "winners" of the trade by default, even though he's back at -1 this year.)

Freaky about Cliff Lee.
Is there a kind of a reverse benefit to being a good-hitting pitching because your mound opponent will only see the number nine spot in the batting order and groove the ball?

For those counting the ex-Nats, don't forget that Cliff Lee was originally signed by the Expos, although he never played at the major league level with them.
And continuing to speak of ex-Nats, I've decided to run a competition between Lee and Michael Martinez (who signed his first pro contract with the Nationals after the team's move from Montreal but also never reached the majors with this franchise) to see who hits the most home runs. I believe that as of the end of yesterday's game, both had two homers. I know that the Phillies scored 9 runs today, but I don't know the details of all of the scoring yet. (It's been a busy day.) So if Martinez went yard today, he's moved ahead.
Also, both of Martinez's home runs that I can recall have been 3-run affairs, while both of Lee's have been solo shots. So Martinez has three times as many RBIs on home runs as Lee.
