Big game for Albert Pujols

Posted by Andy on May 15, 2009

This past Sunday was a big day for Albert Pujols. When he walked in the top of the 3rd inning, he avoided tying his career high for most consecutive games without reaching base at all. What's his career high? Would you believe just 3 games?

To me, it's incredible that the guy has never had 4 games in a row where he hasn't reached base.

Active career OBP leader Todd Helton has had 1 streak of 4 games and 3 streaks of 3 each:

Pujols is current secondly in OBP, and the #3 (semi-) active guy is Manny Ramirez.

Man-Ram has 2 different 4-game streaks and a whole bunch of 3-game jobs.

To be fair, Ramirez and Helton have played for a lot longer than Pujols, so Albert still has a shot at his own 4-game streak.

    Interesting stat Andy.

Ichiro also has only gone 3 games and also only twice. Both of those streaks happened within one 2 week period in 2006.
