Rounding Off the 14+ Run Innings

Posted by Raphy on July 6, 2009

In my post yesterday I discussed 2 games that involved 14 run first innings.  In the comments of that post, reader ImAShark noted that aside from those 2 there have been very few times when a team scored 14+ runs in any inning.  I didn't realize it at the time, but ImAShark is quite correct. In fact, unless I'm missing something, there have only been 2 other 14+ run innings since 1954. One is famous for being  so large and the other for happening this season. However, just to   round things out, I will post those games as well. (EDIT- For a more complete list, please see whiz's comment here)

    Thanks for posting this.

I was at the Yankees game earlier this year. Part-way through that inning, everybody was chanting "We Want Swisher". If you remember, earlier in the week, Nick Swisher pitched a shutout inning. Part-way through Claggett's performance, I tried leading a chant of "We Want Wang".

A lot of people in my section wanted their money back. Probably because many people in my section in the middle level near the LF foul poll had previously owned better season ticket seats but were bumped back due to the fact that the good seats were only eligible to season ticket holders who had full season packages. This was the third game of the season at Yankee Stadium II and the first one for Saturday and Weekend packages.
