Yes, since the playoffs were expanded in 1995, it's hard for a pre-1995 team to have a chance here. Nonetheless, what the 1996 Yankees did in October is impressive - getting 8 of the required 11 wins needed (for a ring) on the road. And, what about those teams that won 5 post-season road games in a year and who didn't win a ring that season? Yeah, 2002 Giants, 2003 Yankees, 1997 Indians and 1996 Braves and ...I'm looking at you!

is it accurate that non of those teams lost a road playoff game in the years in question? or is this just a chart showing road games won only.

The Yankees in 1996 were just at the beginning of their recent greatness. Many would say that the Braves, Orioles, and Indians were better teams that year. But in the 18 games that counted --season and post-season-- that the Yankees played in those teams' home parks in '96, the Yankees went 18-0.

The Yankees were 3-4 at home that postseason. All three wins were by 1 run, two of them in extra innings. You always think of Yankee Stadium as the last place you'd want to be as an opposing team in the playoffs. Yet in '96 the Yankees had to scratch and claw for a win there, coming only a few hits away from 0-7.

In 1996, The Yankees were unstoppable with a 90-72 record during the course of that season and with Andy Pettitte going strong with a season 21-8 with a 3.87 ERA and 162 strikeouts but losing the Cy Young award ballot to Pat Hentgen going 20-10 and with a 3.22 ERA and with 177 strikeouts so as you can see a slight difference. The reason they were undefeated was because a of both strong pitching and strong batting by Wade Boggs getting 168 hits and Derek Jeter with 183 hits and thats why they were so great in the postseason.
