Randy Bush would probably like to thank guys such as Houston Jimenez, Ron Washington, Lenny Faedo, Alvaro Espinoza and Pat Meares for making this "record" possible...

Johnny Grubb was a killer in this role.

    Johnny Grubb!

  3. Kahuna Tuna Says:

Grubb was 5 for 30 (.457 OPS) in four-plus years in the NL pinch-hitting in the #9 spot. He hit a sacrifice fly in this late-1974 game (saved by Randy Jones) to score the winning run in the seventh inning. In his other 27 games in this role (21 of which the Padres lost) Grubb contributed little. Of course, those were his age-23 to age-27 seasons, when the Padres were awful and Grubb usually started.

  4. Kahuna Tuna Says:

Gates Brown racked up all 51 of his appearances in the final two years of his career, 1974 and 1975.
