Tidbits

Posted by Andy on May 7, 2010

A few tidbits:

  • If you check out the most popular player pages on B-R.com, you can see that yesterday Robin Roberts' page received 6,774 views whereas the most popular pages usually get 1,000-2,000 views per day. This is, of course, what happens when someone makes big news by getting traded, being involved in a significant on-field or off-field incident, or passing away.
  • Grand Cards has a post featuring an Ernie Harwell baseball card, issued in 1988 by Domino's Pizza to commemorate the 1968 Tigers championship.
  • Readership of our blog is now at an all-time high. We've been getting lots of links directly to the blog. I just wanted to say thanks to all the readers, commenters, and linkers. Please keep it coming. We write this blog for you and really appreciate all the participation.

I think at one point Jim Morris had the 3rd most-viewed page. Now he's down to #28. His name still looks quite incongruous there. In a few more years no one will have any idea why his was so popular.

In case anybody is curious, JT is looking at the most popular pages of all time here:

It's true about Morris. He got a ton of hits when that movie came out and he'll always get more hits than just about any other player who appeared in fewer than 25 games but 10 years from now he should be much lower.
