Is there any place to find the number of all-star selections (even games in which they didn't play) each player has?

  2. Neil Paine Says:

I'm pretty sure this list counts situations where they didn't play:

  3. Raphy Says:

    It does. Thanks Neil.
There isn't any place with a complete list, is there?

One thing I couldn't find on this site a few days ago is a list of every player selected in a given year that includes the team they were representing that year next to their name on the same page. I could go to 2004's game and see J. Westbrook (and would have preferred to see it spelled out as Jake Westbrook), but I'd have to click on his name to see that he represented Cleveland that year. I would have liked to have seen who the other Cleveland players were for 2004-2006 at one glance, in order to reply to a message someone posted in another blog entry regarding who got picked over Travis "Pronk" Hafner during that time period.

Good idea DD. I'll see what I can do.

I just added all of the suggestions above.

During tonight's broadcast, Joe Buck mentioned Evan Longoria is one of six rookies in MLB history to bat in both an All-Star Game and the World Series. Any idea how I can find out who the other five players are? I thought Chuck Knoblauch was one, but he wasn't an AS until '92 (despite winning ROY and a WS title in '91). Any help is greatly appreciated!

To start: Here's the list of rookie all-stars:

Thanks, Raphy! That list, combined with some Baseball Reference research, led me to the answer. Here are the other five players:

    Joe DiMaggio - '36 Yankees
    Spec Shea - '47 Yankees
    Don Newcombe - '49 Browns
Fred Lynn - '75 Red Sox
    Hideki Matsui - '03 Yankees

I hope someone, other than me, finds it interesting.

  10. Howard Says:

Can someone post a list of those players with the most All-Star Game appearance who are eligible for the Hall of Fame but have not been elected? For example, Thurman Munson was in 7 ASGs but is not in the Hall. Steve Garvey was in 10 ASGs.

    Thank you
