David Price, C. J. Wilson, and a tale of two pitchers

Posted by Andy on July 19, 2010

Well, not a tale as much as a couple of short lists...

David Price's start against the Yankees yesterday was one of the worst of his career. Here are his bottom five performances by Game Score:

Yesterday's game slots in at #4. The 7 earned runs were the most he's allowed in his short career. YOu can check that yourself in Price's game logs.

C. J. Wilson, meanwhile, turned in one of his best starts yesterday:

In his performance (#3 above) he set a career high in strikeouts. That game, as well as #2 on the list, are the only two topped he's topped 6 strikeouts in a game.  Wilson has made only 25 career starts so far, having been used exclusively as a reliever in 2006 through 2009. (Price already has 42 starts.)

So, fantasy players, am I telling you to drop Price and pick up Wilson? Not exactly. After all, at the moment, Wilson still leads the league in walks.
