Bounce home run

From BR Bullpen

A bounce home run was a fair batted ball that went over the fence or into a stand. The rule that considered such hits as home runs was changed by the American League for the 1929 season and by the National League for the 1931 season. Today they are considered to be universal ground-rule doubles (what are commonly called, although incorrectly, ground-rule doubles).

For many years Al López was thought to have hit the last bounce home run, in 1930. SABR member Gary Belleville published research in 2026 that showed that the last bounce home run was hit by Brooklyn's Eddie Moore on September 27, 1930.
