José Alvarado (Guatemala)

From BR Bullpen

José Alvarado was the first cleanup hitter in the history of the Guatemalan national team, taking that role in their opener of the 1930 Central American Games, their debut tournament. Playing second base, he went 0 for 4 against Gold Medal winner Cuba. He finished the event 2 for 16 with a steal and a run but his .956 fielding percentage led all regulars at second base. He may also have been the same José Alvarado as was with Guatemala for the 1950 Central American and Caribbean Games.
