Biographical Information[edit]

Michael Taylor-20080625-BauckP01.jpg

Michael Taylor was a high school teammate of Zack Greinke for one year. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 5th round of the 2007 amateur draft. Signed by scout Joey Davis, he began his pro career that summer.

On December 16, 2009 Taylor was traded by the Phillies with Travis d'Arnaud and Kyle Drabek to the Toronto Blue Jays for Roy Halladay and cash. He was then flipped to the Oakland A's for Brett Wallace the same day. He made his major league debut with the A's in 2011.

Taylor suffered an embarrassing injury in spring training of 2013 with the A's: he cut one of his fingers on a ceiling lamp while throwing away a wad of chewing gum and had to sit out a number of games as a result.

He is not to be confused with contemporary outfielder Michael A. Taylor.
