Keeps gettin’ better: Paul Konerko as player/manager

Posted by Andy on October 11, 2011

This from ESPN.com: White Sox GM considered Paul Konerko as player/manager before hiring Robin Ventura

I wonder if he tried to hire Billy Martin first?

The last player/manager in MLB was Pete Rose, who did it from 19084 to 1986 with the Reds.

Other player/managers include Frank Robinson in 1975-76 with the Indians and Joe Torre with the 1977 Mets.

I hope people are still accessing these blogs.

On April 22, 1959 while playing for the A's Brunet was called to pitch in relief against the White Sox. He came in with the bases loaded. He walked the first two batters, then he hit a batter and then walked three more to force in six runs. Altogether in that inning the Sox scored 11 runs with just one hit. There were a total of ten walks that half-inning.
On the plus side Brunet pitched in the Mexican League until h was 50. A source that I accessed stated that he holds the minor league record with more than 3100 strikeouts.

    "h" should be "he".

I see no reason why players who wear crucifixes should be an issue with anyone.
After all, baseball is in the Bible, isn't it?
Isn't that what I hear the preacher read from Genesis 1:1 every once in a while?
"In the Big Inning, God created the heavens and the earth..."
