Halladay’s first game with the Phillies

Posted by Andy on April 7, 2010

I credit the Phillies radio announcers on WPHT for this one. I was listening to that game online and they mentioned that Halladay was high on the list of most strikeouts a pitcher's first game as a Phillie. We can't search for that exactly (because the Pitching Game Finder doesn't have an option for first game with a new team) but we can find similar results with the streak finder (which does have the new team option.)

Halladay became the 3rd pitcher to have at least 9 strikeouts in his Phillies debut. As you can see, Jim Bunning did it in each of his first two games with Philadelphia. This is post-1920.
